1860's Promenade Suit (Private Commission)-
This ensemble was recreated for a private client and is
inspired by an original piece from the Victoria & Albert
Museum in London, England. The basque waist style jacket
and skirt are constructed of a Peacock blue wool chalis
fabric, embellished with quad cable and diamond design
in cotton soutache braiding, complimented by bands of
black cotton velveteen trim. Belt buckle at waist treatment
is original to the period. Spoon style bonnet is of draped
black silk shantung and velvet materials, trimmed out
a small spray knot of vintage jet beading. Silk floral
and vintage lace have been used on the inside of the bonnet
brim.
